Is Your Family Ready To Go WILD?
Wondering if WILD is the right fit for your student? Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions families ask as they explore flexible, project-based virtual learning.
WILD blends the flexibility of virtual learning with the personal support of a small Wyoming school district. Students complete coursework through Canvas, participate in regular check-ins, and work with teachers to design, revise, and showcase their learning over time.
Through project-based learning, students connect academic content to real-world questions, interests, and goals. Their learning is documented through portfolios that demonstrate growth, reflection, and readiness for the next step.
WILD is built around:
- Flexible, asynchronous learning
- Scheduled teacher check-ins and support
- Project-based learning experiences
- Student portfolios
- Personalized academic planning
- Family and district learning coach support
- Opportunities for fully virtual or hybrid learning
WILD may be a good fit for students and families who are looking for a flexible learning option while still wanting the structure, support, and accountability of a public school program.
WILD may support students who:
- Learn well with flexibility and independence
- Need an alternative to a traditional daily schedule
- Want to pursue interests, projects, or career goals
- Benefit from a smaller, more personalized school connection
- Live within Park County School District #16 or may qualify through an approved agreement with another district
- Want access to Meeteetse School opportunities through a hybrid option when appropriate
Because virtual learning requires commitment and support, each student participates in a pre-enrollment consultation to make sure WILD is the right fit.
WILD courses are delivered through Canvas, the learning management system used to organize assignments, communication, feedback, and course materials.
Students are expected to engage consistently in coursework, communicate with teachers, attend required check-ins, complete assignments and projects with integrity, and actively build their portfolio.
Families also play an important role. Each student learning from home must have a family-designated learning coach, usually a parent or guardian, who helps support the student’s schedule, progress, communication, and accountability.
Students learning in a school setting may also receive support from a district-assigned learning coach.
WILD is flexible, but it is not disconnected.
Students are supported through regular communication, teacher feedback, progress monitoring, and intervention when needed. Student progress is reviewed through participation data, assignment completion, assessments, project outcomes, and communication with students and families.
When a student is not making adequate progress, WILD may provide additional teacher support, increased check-ins, tutoring, structured work time, or a recommendation for hybrid or in-person support.
Our goal is to help students succeed, not leave them on their own.
